Summer Discussion: Building the World We Dream About

Discussion Format (June 25 - August 27)
Beginning on June 25th our worship services will change to the summer group discussion format. Sunday discussions for adults, teens and older children will be based on the UUA’s Tapestry of Faith curriculum, “Building the World We Dream About.” Our children’s RE program, for any child who isn’t ready for the adult discussions, will continue throughout the summer with stories, games and crafts in a one-room schoolhouse setting and the curriculum, “Love Surrounds Us.” In the fall, we will kick off our regular church year with our annual Labor Day weekend picnic (details to be announced).

About: “Building the World We Dream About”  This discussion series explores through sharing, reflection and deep listening, how the members and friends of UUFSM can build the multicultural Beloved Community that we, as Unitarian Universalists, want to embody.  Participants will communicate and experience diverse personal narratives, practice skills for cross-cultural dialogue, and generate ideas about local, authentic cross-cultural partnering.  The discussions seek to transformation how we relate across racial, ethnic, cultural, genderqueer and other differences, to nurture a multiculturally competent, actively anti-racist, gender inclusive congregation.  See the calendar for more details.

About: “Love Surrounds Us”  This is a Tapestry of Faith children’s program that uses our seven UU Principles (Promises) in the context of a Beloved Community of family, school, and neighborhood to explore the diversity and the similarities of world religions. Participants engage in activities that emphasize the love they feel in community.  See the calendar for more details.
