It is often dangerous for people who are different or who have different ideas. Long ago when kings and emperors led their countries, the people were required to go to the king's church. It didn’t matter what the people believed. The church leaders did not like it when people had different ideas, and they often put people in jail for disagreeing.  Michael Servetus wanted others to hear his ideas about God. But the leaders of the church, supported by the king, branded him a heretic and wanted him dead so that his ideas would not spread. Michael Servetus’ ideas did not die, and they spread all the way to our denomination and our church.  This is the story of how Unitarianism began.
