On our summer Preaching Along the Potomac schedule, this Sunday we will view and follow along in the “Animal Blessing Service,” provided by Rev. Rebecca Banner,Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. We will bless our own animals as we see the service on line.
“Whether they bark, purr, chirp, buzz, or wiggle, our animal friends are part of the family! Join us for a service of blessings, joy, and gratitude for the companions who make our lives richer. If your pet is happy around people and other animals, bring them along for a tail-wagging, wing-spreading, heart-filling morning. Dogs can be leashed; please have carriers for all other critters. If your pet is shy, bring a representative photo or plush toy that can be blessed.”
There will be no children’s Religious Education class; this service is designed for people of all ages. There will be an activity table with coloring pages (parents can bring other sharable activities), and the Nursery room will be available if parents/caregivers of infants and toddlers need to use that space.
Reminder: There will be no worship service on Sunday, August 31. We will meet for our annual Labor Day picnic. Please contact info.UUFSM@gmail.com if you’d like to attend but haven’t received details.
